Description
Santa Margherita, Patron Saint of Strembo
The Parish Church of Santa Margherita in Strembo is the village's main church, dedicated to Saint Margaret of Antioch, a virgin and martyr particularly venerated in the Middle Ages as protector of women in childbirth. The parish church, with its bell tower marking the village skyline, is the beating heart of religious life in this community of middle Val Rendena.
The building, in Trentino-Lombard style, gathers centuries of devotion and sacred art. Strembo stands in a privileged position in the valley, surrounded by a landscape where Alpine nature blends with the testimonies of Saint Vigilius's evangelising work and the artistic legacy of the Baschenis painters, whose Dance of Death is preserved in nearby Pinzolo.
