The Doubting Apostle in the Village of Strembo

The Church of San Tommaso in Strembo is dedicated to the apostle Thomas, known for his initial scepticism about Christ's resurrection and thus a symbol of faith overcoming doubt. The church, with its Trentino-Lombard architecture, is a significant place of worship in this small village of middle Val Rendena.

Strembo, in a panoramic position overlooking the valley, preserves the atmosphere of Alpine villages where the church is the centre of community life. Val Rendena, evangelised in the 4th century by Saint Vigilius, holds in every village testimonies of sacred art, many linked to the Baschenis painters tradition whose frescoes made this valley famous in the art world.
