San Lorenzo, Patron Saint of Darè

The Church of San Lorenzo in Darè is the main place of worship in this small Val Rendena village, dedicated to the famous Roman deacon martyred in 258 AD. The cult of Saint Lawrence is extremely widespread throughout Trentino, and his feast day, August 10th, traditionally coincides with the night of shooting stars, the "Tears of Saint Lawrence".

The church's architecture reflects the typical Trentino-Lombard sacred building style, with its bell tower rising above the village skyline. Darè, a small but characteristic village in lower Val Rendena, preserves the atmosphere of Alpine villages where the church is the hub of community life, in a valley holding precious artistic testimonies by the Baschenis.
