The Chiesa del Calvario in Pelugo is a sacred building dedicated to the memory of Christ's Passion, set in an elevated position according to the tradition of Alpine calvaries. These churches, placed atop short climbs studded with Stations of the Cross, were places of intense popular devotion, especially during Holy Week.

The Calvary of Pelugo offers a privileged viewpoint over Val Rendena and represents one of the many sacred signs dotting the valley landscape. The territory, where the celebrated Baschenis painters worked with their frescoes between the 15th and 16th centuries, preserves a religious heritage of extraordinary artistic and spiritual value.
