The Antica Chiesa di Sant'Andrea in Tione di Trento is one of the town's oldest sacred buildings, dedicated to the apostle Andrew, brother of Peter and the first called by Jesus. The designation "antica" (ancient) underlines its venerable age, making it a monument to the continuity of Christian faith in these lands, evangelised in the 4th century by Saint Vigilius.
Tione di Trento, capital of the Giudicarie, is an important centre for the entire valley. The Ancient Church of Sant'Andrea, with its architecture bearing witness to centuries of history, forms part of a religious heritage enriched by the art of the Baschenis painters, whose fresco tradition made the Trentino valleys famous.
