Embrace of Light — Nativity Scenes in Val Rendena
A Tradition Born from a Special Gift
Embrace of Light is the nativity scene exhibition of Val Rendena, created to commemorate the gift of a great tree from Val Rendena to St Peter's Square for Christmas 2004, under the pontificate of John Paul II. Since then, every year the villages of the valley light up with artisan nativity scenes created by local families and associations.
The Nativity Scene Trail
- Caderzone Terme: the heart of the event, with a trail of nativity scenes winding through the historic village
- Pelugo: the famous mechanical artisan nativity scene with moving figures, water mills and enchanting snow and light effects
- Villages of Val Rendena: nativity scenes scattered across the various villages, visitable with a map from the tourist office
- New Year's torchlight procession: on the night of 1 January, a torch-lit procession through the illuminated nativity scenes
An Experience for the Whole Family
The nativity scenes are crafted with natural and artisan materials, reflecting the mountain tradition of Val Rendena. The trail is suitable for everyone, from children to the elderly, and represents an authentic way to experience the magic of Christmas in the Dolomites.
